about

Originally on my American Holocaust (1994) release I decided to record the song again after Justin Crown came up with this groove and arrangement. The artist known as Scribe ahppened by our make shift studio at Edith May's Paradise and provided the back up vocals. which I love.

This song has always gotten to the heart of our cultures dysfunction and it is one of the songs I am most proud of and it was very cool to finally get it right.

lyrics

It Takes Nothing

Don't want power don't want your pain.
Want to live my life so that spirit will remain.
Don't need your money, I'm not your whore.
I've had enough of fork tongue to last a million years or more!

chorus:
It takes, nothing, to give a man his pride.
Nothing, judge her on how she rides.
It takes Nothing, if the greedy man steps aside!
Nothing, it takes nothing.

Never asked directions, never asked for the car.
Got feet for walkin', you know they've take me this far.
You think love's for liars, talking behind closed doors.
Money buys you everything, you think it evens up the score!

repeat chorus: But it takes Nothing......

Bridge:
Now I've seen all kinds of people trying to rule the world.
I've seen too many people trying to ruin the world....

GOD said to man, "Here's everything you'll ever need!"
Man never being satisfied said, "greed is my need."
Food, clothing, and shelter, what it takes to survive!
There was a time you never owed another man to keep your body alive!

repeats chorus: It takes Nothing.......
