about

RIDE YOUR PONY My other aunt, my aunt’s life partner, taught me to ride and jousting (Maryland’s Official State
Sport). She died about one year before my blood aunt. She always said, “If there aren’t no horses in Heaven…I ain’t
going!” I guess there are horses in Heaven. So, I sang her home.

lyrics

Ride Your Pony

chorus:
Ride your pony through Heaven tonight
Your horse awaits green grass and blue skies
They say where you're going all good cowgirls ride
So ride your pony through Heaven this night

I recall I was too small to walk
you carried me on that big brown bay
I fell asleep in your loving arms
in your loving arms, I felt safe that day

when I was four I was climbing aboard
my very own pony and you taught me to ride
Ride tall in the saddle and know you are love
This life is your journey the horse is your guide

Repeat chorus:

Your ride down here is over and done
I'm gonna miss you and the love that you gave
So climb aboard for one glorious ride
On to the trail that the Angels pave
Repeat chorus:
